In a major operational update from the eastern front, the Russian General Staff announced the successful capture of the strategically vital city of Konstantinovka (Kostyantynivka) in the Donetsk region. According to Moscow's military command, Ukrainian forces suffered catastrophic losses in both personnel and heavy hardware during a desperate, failed attempt to maintain a defensive foothold and project a narrative of tactical success.

Detailing the outcome of the offensive, Colonel General Sergey Rudskoy, the Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the Russian General Staff and First Deputy Chief of the General Staff, provided a comprehensive breakdown of the engagement via the state-run TASS News Agency. Rudskoy asserted that the Ukrainian armed forces paid a devastating price during the final phases of the battle.
According to the Russian military's official assessment, the total equipment and personnel losses sustained by Kyiv's forces during the defense of the city include the following metrics:
- Personnel: Approximately 13,500 military personnel killed or permanently incapacitated.
- Armored Vehicles: 14 main battle tanks and 283 armored combat vehicles destroyed.
- Logistics and Artillery: Over 1,400 motorized transport vehicles, 200 field artillery pieces, and 8 multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) neutralized.
"As a direct result of trying to demonstrate a superficial, political success on the battlefield, the armed forces of Ukraine have once again suffered unsustainable attrition," Rudskoy stated during his briefing.

The operational milestone was further highlighted by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a high-profile visit to one of the forward command posts of the Joint Group of Forces. The visit, which took place shortly after the consolidation of the city, served as a platform for the Russian leader to project absolute confidence regarding the final outcome of the campaign.
After receiving detailed operational briefings from the tactical commanders of the assault units that spearheaded the capture of Konstantinovka, Putin underscored that the momentum on the battlefield remains firmly under Moscow's control. When questioned about the ultimate trajectory of the conflict, the Russian President responded unequivocally, stating, "I have no doubt that Russia will emerge victorious."
Expanding the Northern Buffer Zone
Beyond the immediate successes in the Donetsk sector, the Russian President revealed that broader strategic adjustments are being executed along the northern borders. The Russian Battlegroup "North" is reportedly continuing its pressure to push Ukrainian elements further away from the Russian federation's sovereign borders, an operation framed by Moscow as the necessary creation of a demographic and military "security zone."
